Pony loan and Time

I'm in need of some advice here; I have a horse on loan, but my dad pays for her, since he's agreed that I need more in my life other than studies. I'm struggling to see her at all now, due to the weather and exams/revision, and its making me feel really guilty about him paying for her every month, when I don't see her ver much :( but, I do know the owner wouldn't be able to afford her, if we didn't have her on loan. I love her to pieces, and I've let her become the biggest part of my life, so I'd be so saf if I stopped but that's why I'm in 2 minds about whether to keep up with the loan?

I'd talk to your dad about your concerns, it may be that he's fine with the money for the pleasure you get from her in the time you do have with her. we are probably only 6/8 weeks from spring and evenings are getting lighter so you may have more time soon.
I agree with him it's just as important to have a break from studying and something with some exercise and fresh air is ideal.
If the money is a concern for your dad also, it will make your decision easier.
 
I agree have a talk to him, just bear in mind that winter can be a hard slog, but the evenings are getting lighter, personally I have way more energy as a result of that and the summer holidays are coming :-D you could maybe get a sharer if the owner agrees to that, take some of the pressure off financially and time wise? Or you could send the pony back and get a share yourself? It's not really the same but sometimes you hit a point where your heart is not really in it and you need a break from horses, a lot of us have done that and come back to it :-)

Hard decision for you, I'm sure your dad will be proud of you for thinking of him financially too.
 
depending on how often you loan why don't you also ask your owner if they can find someone else to loan even if it is just part of the time that you currently take pony on. That way you don't lose your pony, your dad saves some money and your owner doesn't lose out on funds or someone to ride and take care of pony.
