Pony loaned from a charity

I know someone who has a pony on loan from a charity, its not one i've ever heard of, I think it was set up by a couple of women many years ago on their own bit of land and developed from there.
This pony was originally on loan to person 1 who decided they didnt want it so gave it to person 2. This is against the agreement P1 signed but they did after a few weeks inform the charity who said ok and after about a month came to check the premises etc and got P2 to sign a new contract. (the charity seemed not bothered by what had happened and in no hurry to visit)
P2 isnt the best at horse care and the pony in my opinion is not looked after to a high standard but its ok and by no means suffering.
However P2 has just given the pony to a third (or fouth?) party- the charity is not being informed as it will still be kept in the same field.
Its a young pony and has been broken a few year go but done nothing since and this morning its been lunged and actually hit with the lunge whip then ridden by a lady who i'm sure is far to heavy- he's so confused but being treated roughly for it.
I dont have any idea who the charity contact would be or even if they would be worried but im concerned???
 
No thats my problem I really have absolutely no idea. last time i asked P2 had "forgotten" the name and lost the contract- they certainly wont tell me now

Well, if you have concerns about how the pony is being kept contact the WHW or BHS and they can come out and have a look.
 
Dont bother with WHW, Ive reported 200 over crowded suffering equines (Spindles Farm in the making) and the woman on the phone was hardly bothered, she said my idea of neglect and suffering might not be theirs-I did say I have 30 years plus experience of horse ownership and do know what is acceptable and what isnt, I was that bitterly disapointed with WHW Ive stopped my monthly donation.
Try BHS welfare they were much much more helpful and interested.
 
I was told the name at the time but you know when your introduced to someone you've never heard of then a year later get asked the name.....!
I'm not worried really about his welfare in that he's fed he has water he has company it just dosent seem right to me- charities do a good job much of the time and people like this make it "not work"- maybe becoming a riding pony will bring him a better life in the long run, fingers crossed
 
Unfortunately I don't think there is much you can do. It sounds like a very rubbish charity to be honest, as they should be visiting and inspecting the pony every so often rather than leaving successive owners to their own devices. However, as the pony is not a welfare case other charities will not be able to intervene.
 
The land/yard owner has a duty of care so that would be another route to try along with BHS/WHW...
 
if all else fails then could you speak to the owner/s and maybe 'suggest' that you are interested in getting a loan pony from the charity yourself and would like to know the charity name.
or get friendly with the new people who have the pony and ask where they got it from etc.
 
What part of the country are you in this sounds very alike one I have dealt with in the past before I relocated and also many people Also had dealings with, it could poss be the same one
