After my daughters riding accident last week I thought I would get the vet out to check the pony over as she's not been herself recently. He listened to her chest and said she needed to come in and have a scope done to see if it's an infection or C.R.D so am waiting for results but it looking likely that she has it. I've only owned her since sept, didn't have a vetting as she was recommended by pony club and everyone knew her. When she arrived the owner handed me some ventapulmin and said she wasn't on it but needed it last May when she had a chest infection. She had been fine all summer living out. I now feel terrible as I wonder how long she's been suffering for as she's not looked sick and coughed occasionally. Just wondering if this will have a happy ending poor girl :(

May I recommend that you join the Turmeric user group on facebook - check out the 'files' on there and I am certain that turmeric has been used for COPD with good results.

We purchased a pony with COPD, she was 13, she had a further 10 good healthy years doing PC & RC activities and only retired 2 years ago due to her arthritis. She did go on to develop summer pasture RAO summer before last and we thought that was it for her, however this summer she didn't get it, possible because we had no rape near us - fingers crossed for this year. We didn't have to use any medication for the COPD, we kept her out as much as possible and had her on dust free bedding (cardboard or easibed) and soaked hay or haylage. I also made sure I always groomed her outside too.
