hello all i'm new to this but was wondering if anyone had any suggestions my pony constantly poohs down her back legs n in her tail which is obviously very annoying and time consuming as i have to wash her down everyday..(.which she is not a big fan of)
have been told duck eggs are good for firming up??? anyone used these??? she is not actually on anything other than
haylage...
any suggestions welcome

i'd probably get a worm count done if you haven't already, and/or a blood test, depending on what your vet thinks. scouring can be caused by various things. if she's only just started on haylage and this is the result, i'd switch her to hay - the acidity of it does not suit all horses. if that's impossible, i'd prob be feeding her hi-fi or similar, something plain to give her gut lots to do. i'd give her a good probiotic too, asap.

Hi their dont know if this might help, when my horse started the new winter routine a month or so ago and they were getting put onto haylage instead of hay he had really bad runs for about a week or so even though we had introduced it slowly, he was messing down the back of his legs and he was really irritated by it really stamping his back feet dont know if it was posssibly burning the skin or whatever but i put baby oil all over his back legs and in his tail every 2 days and it really helped prevent the muck sticking to his fur and he seemed alot happier, good luck x

I would say the haylage is responsible for the squits and she ought to be much better (no more squitting) once put on hay. Of course, I could be completely wrong...

thanks alot guys she has always been a bit of a messy moo but i think it is the haylage but have no option on that at the moment as we have nowhere to store our hay(barn we used got blown down in winds)...how often do you think it is best to worm her?....think i will try the baby oil tho' as she can be a cow to clean up
has anyone tried duck eggs?
