7 1/2 weeks gone and first visit with my own doctor today, was kind of shocked when the receptionist announced me as "our survivor" and the Doc replies "Oh this is the one" was also referred to as 'the lucky one'

Good news everything is still healing up, bad news a couple of small issues have come up..

Seems like I damaged a nerve in my leg, peroneal nerve, causing a numb spot on my knee, forecast up to 12 months for that one to heal, but hopefully it wont be much of an issue.

I also have 'ear rocks' , some crystals in the ear canal got knocked loose in the accident and are now floating about in the wrong place, causes me to get dizzy if I move wrong, or try and lie down on my left side, of course the relatively undamaged one. He wants to wait and see on that one, a quick internet search shows some exercises you can do to try and make the rocks go to the right area of the ear, I may have to try that.

Over all I have been strongly cautioned not to do to much, especially with harvest coming up, if I don't get well now, I could still be struggling next harvest I also have to take more pain pills than I have been, seems like being tough isn't all it's cracked up to be. Oh and have to wear a wrist brace more often than I have been doing, and with the steel set to put my wrist at a better angle, seems it's not meant to be flat.

I was also told not to try and do anything with the horses for a while, I can go and hang out with them, as the Doc says, go spend time with the new guy so he knows you, but you can't risk being pulled around by anything right now. So we hurry up and wait some more!!

I went and took some pics of the horses that are at home, thought that would be safe.

This was Fatty Emmy when I bought her

But she was away at the trainer while I was laid up, and she is now Skinny Emmy

Got to spend some time with the new guy, who arrived the day before the accident, and still hasn't got a name, although we are trying Gibbs for size right now.

He is very stand offish as you can see

His default expression, think half asleep rather than peed off

I did get a real break through with him, he doesn't understand the concept of hand fed treats, accepts being scratched as being OK, but a human fly swatter, OH YEAH, bring it on, so we are bonding by me slapping flies off of him.

Gibbs and Ben have become firm friends, much to Emmys disgust, Ben was her man, and she comes home to find him in a bachelor relationship!

Ffion, that's him, became mine by default while I was in hospital, the agreement was bring back the horse, or I'll cash the cheque, well I was still in high dependency when he was due back, so they cashed the cheque!

I am looking forward to getting back in the saddle onto a horse that I have ridden precisely once, and will have to overcome all the nerves etc while getting to know him.

FW, are you thinking of Cody? He was a lovely muley looking thing, but he went to a new home. Where's Ben? :( has he moved on?

Glad you are getting there BB x

Oh right, yes that's the one. Hence I was pretty confused as I couldn't believe he turned from an odd looking mule to a much younger nice looking horse and grew a mane in 7 months!

LOL, sorry, Yeah Cody, who turned out to be more stunning than even I thought he would

Was sold the week before the accident, he is now loved by three little girls, and is teaching them to ride, while they teach him that he is loved and wanted again, win win!

Ben is here for now, he will be going but I am in no rush, the right person is the important thing for him. He was due to go to my trainer for a month and to be sold from there, but as the law of sod dictates she damaged herself falling off of a quad bike 2 days before she was due to pick him up, and now is grounded. I'm debating if I can sell him from the field, or if I should try and find another trainer that I trust to work with him before he goes.
