STILL LOOKING.
When I was a child I was forever looking in the pet shop windows, in newspapers and asking everyone who had a stable did they want a rider.
I need a rider for our 4 year old 12hh welsh section B I have advertised and never had any one answer my call. Does any one out there know a little confident rider please let me know, no cost to them either. helppppppp COUNTY DURHAM

Sorry to jump into the thread, but if anyone has a confident and competent little jockey for our 11.2hh welsh 10 yr old pony, we'd love to meet them. He hasn't had a rider since October last year and is desperate to be back in work. We're offering a lease as such, but he stays here with us and the rider is welcome to come down at least 3-4 times a week to ride and groom him. We're asking for a minimum amount to cover some costs. Full details available for anyone. We're based between Ely and Newmarket. Like you Clarky, we've been advertising for a rider with no joy, but when we did have him advertised for sale, we were shocked at the standard or lack of it, of the junior riders nowadays. Surely there are some parents out there who can't afford to buy or keep a pony, and would love the opportunities you and I are offering. Hope you get someone soon for your little one. Our boy is spending his life now playing out with our racehorses and making friends with the foals who are all bigger than him.

I've given up looking for a rider for pony - I'm trying to lose weight so I can ride her instead. The only ones I found were still on the lead rein for their own safety and would have blown the poor mare's mind

I'm forever looking on Ads to see if anyone wants help exercising their horses. I would work for my rides - always have done.
But when ever I think I find a ad they are either too far away, or want alot of money.

I don't mind having naughty ponies/horses, but I just think where I live people who have horses, ride them and don't need sharers/help.

Bummer really.

I cannot believe you have not found a confident little rider .... surely with the summer hols coming up you will have more luck

I appear to have morphed into someone who helps excercise my friends horses at least once a week each, but cannot find a rider for my TB .... and now, due to lack of ridiing, he is becoming fat .......

I am riding a 17 years old 14.1h Welsh x Mare a 20 year old 16h Shire x Cob Gelding (semi retired) and a 28 year old 15.3h Suffolk Punch x (semi retired) ..... as well as my 27 year old 14.3h Welsh D x Hackney .............

So I must be one of those people out there willing to give it a go and have fun

PS ... and I have ridden another HHO members 14.3h Welsh D Mare a few times this year

I don't understand why you can't find people to ride your horses/ponies. I will always ride something that is offered (especially with uni holidays being so long) until I run out of time in the day. The only problem is that I can't drive yet (test in september

) but at the moment I am riding 3 regularaly (6 times a week, one is mine) and 1 about 3/4 times a week and then 3 others when needed (sometimes not for a week then every day for a week depending on owner). So long as I can get there I will take any opportunity. Its all experience. Have you tried advertising in local tack shops. Maybe advertise in RS but it depends where because you could end up with a load of useless calls e.g. from people who have been riding for a month. Good luck to all

Shame you're so far away - I have a small person who would have done the job for you!

Same here. I have a very confident and caring 5 year old who would have loved to be your pony's jockey. For 5 years of age she is a very 'kind' rider.

with vizzielover! I have a 5 year bubba looking for leadrein/first ridden. I would love to buy her a pony but since I am a soft touch and dont like selling on it would mean by the time bubs is 18 I would have a whole set from 10.2-17.2 and OH would have a fit!!!

Same here, no car is a pain!!!! Curse my inability to pass a driving test, should have saved my money for a horse and cart? Uni means no horse of my own either

Anyone in manchester area... i'm still looking for a horse i can get to from Heywood.

Hope you all find horses and persons to match! xx

I have a friend who is looking for a loan pony for her 6 yo daughter in Yorks area. Problem seems to be though with loaners wanting to keep the pony at thwir own premises. My friend has her own horse and stables so would obviously want to have a long loan and have the pony at home. Too many ads IMO always stipulate "must stay at present yard" so will limit the people who would be interested.
