Our pony fell over while she was coming in from the turnout today, another horse kicked out at her and she fell on her side. I watched it back on the yards cctv and it looks like a nasty fall, she slipped, twisted and fell on her side right into a stable door.
Shes trotted up sound but the way she fell.........id be sore!! So i want to get her checked.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! :D

Well, if you want to spend your money then you could call a horse osteopath (backman) or/and the vet, but personally .... I would just wait and see if she actually goes lame. But that is just me - I tend not to call vets out unless legs are hanging off.

ditto mcnaughty

I would wait a day or two to see how she is, partic if there are no signs of probs at the moment. Unfortunately they can't talk and with nothing to see the vet or chiro might have a bit of a job. Maybe don't ride her for a week just in case there is bruising.

Obviously if there are any signs of lameness or back trouble then get the vet.

Ouch! Poor pony!

Chiropractors specialise in a particular set of problems with certain areas. It might be worth considering an equine vet first because there will be things they can pick up on (tears, bruising etc) that aren't really within a chiropractors' focus.

But if no signs of ill effects you could try some arnica which is good fro bruising (in people too!)

It's really thoughtful of you to seek to get someone out - lucky pony!

Personally I would get an Equine Touch or a Bowen Therapist out - they could do an overall body balance and also treat any sore areas. It is very gentle but very effective. I used ET for my mare after she had 2 operations - I figured she could use a body balance being knocked out twice. It was really interesting because the ET showed up a problem with her jaw and her teeth - she had one long hook on the bottom set of molars cutting into her gum which the dentist had incredibly missed despite 2 visits in 10 months. So I highly recommend it.

The appy in my sig is my 3yo gelding, Haverlands Raphael. He's by an unreg'd stallion called In The Spotlight by Rivaz Pageant out of Bloxham Karysma whos by Fenjay Flyer

He's lovely but not related to mine. :( I'd opt for McTimoney. Has sorted out so many problems for ours, we've even bought horses cheaply that others have written off as lame or not quite right, only to have them straightened out in 1 session and totally sound happy horse!
