okay, technically this should be in the stable yard but I thought more people would see it in here.
I've been looking for a saddle for a pony. As we plan on buying a cub style saddle, I think it's okay to say it's fine to buy saddle before the pony.
Anyway, I've seen some 'western' style cub saddles for sale, not much pricier than normal cubs, and they fit shetlands / small ponies the same.
Having ridden in a western saddle I have to say i find them much more secure.
I'm thinking perhaps it would give more security and hold for my 2yr old and reassure my 6 yr old.
BUT obviously they kind of 'sit' differently, especially with the way the stirrups are. I'm worried about the lack of safety stirrups.
Has anyone ever used one for tiny tots to ride in? How did they find it? would a western saddle hinder their learning of 'english' riding?? Or can you add normal stirrups to these?
