Mum told me today that next spring/summer he might be going back on a friends yard for grazing and they have a school! (we don't...)

Now I'm thinking ... hmmmm, I have more than 6 weeks of summer, can't ride Danny all day, what else could I do? .... retrain Dimples maybe?!

Thing is, he's about 15/16yrs old (had him since he was 9), don't think he's ever been properly schooled, is rather spooky, doesn't do jumping (though at one point he did, and didn't hate it) and loves to buck... is it possible to get him working happily on the flat - we're not talking the next best dressage pony or anything though he has good paces! - and hacking out quietly? Just to save him from being stuck in a field for the rest of his life! It would be nice to be able to do a little bit with him now and then

How would you go about it??
Obviously he was ridden when we bought him (and a right devil...) had some time off, at one point I did do some more work with him, but has since just been hacked out lightly a few times.

I'm about 5'4 and weigh 46kgs approximately... I wont squish him too much will I?

heh, for real pony squishing, about 2yrs ago I schooled a lead-rein shetland (that was 50% mini shetland so ... TINY!) it was hilarious!

Not sure about the weight thing, but last summer I taught a horse to jump (first time she'd ever gone over anything more than poles on the floor) and she was 16 so I see no reason you can't retrain him!

Maybe I'll need some lead weights to weigh him down.... He really is a horror xD But may have to make it my challenge for the summer then!

He really is a brat when it comes to work...
