Hey ok so i got on my pony today and she was fine in walk & trot but when i asked for canter she put her head down and then i kept trying and she turned sideways and kept stopping. She also kept going backwards trying top rear. I rode her yesterday aswell and she bucked 3 times with the same thing but not as bad as today. I thought she was just having an off day but i do think something is wrong. Bearing in mind that she never ever bucks or rears and is an angel to ride & loves her work so i cant put this down too just being naughty. Does anyone know what could be wrong with her? She is also slightly bargy ans pushy normally but the past 2/3 days she has been quite nostalgic & sleepy. Need some replies as i was supposed to be taking her too poys tomorrow! Thanks! xx

Season? Pain - my mare does this for the first 2 days of her season and gets some back pain after this - the physio sorts it out in one session but it sounds like a pain thing to
Me.

Oh no!! So sorry to hear this :-(

I agree that it may be back pain as my friends pony went from being just like yours to unridable! They got the physio out and within a couple of weeks she was back to normal and they haven't looked back.

Good luck and I really hope she's ok x

Echo the others - it sounds like pain. Even if you had got the vet to her today you could not then have competed her on pain relief even if you had wanted to risk making her worse. I'm afraid this might not be your POYS year - but if you can get a vet certificate you might get a partial refund.

Are you on Easter Holiday? I ask as it is possible that she has suddenly had an increase in work which has made her sore.

I did this once to an event horse. We were away at an event for a week, and in the first two days I did too much because I was excited, it was lovely woodland and fields to ride in, and I wanted her to be quiet in dressage! It was also hilly, whereas at home it is flat.

If you think how much just sore muscles can hurt when you do more then usual, and there is nothing to see, scan, Xray...

Thanks so much for all your replies, we came too the conclusion that she has extremely painful ovaries as it is her first season of the year! I got back on and was a little more stern with her and she did just go although i only did a few minutes as she was clearly hurting. I rode her before we headed off to POYS the next day and she was fine just being her normal self just with a little bit more sass cause she is in season haha. Managed to go too POYS and she was amazing! Thanks again for your help! xxx
