Forest is temporarily broken 😞 after he was doing so well and after my recent post about how well he was doing!

He was in for schooling this week as I was away with work, and he now stands at the mounting block. And his first session he did lots of stretching and bending and was really good.

Second session he started off like that and was going really well, until he was asked to work properly in trot where he half spooked at the walls then got over it, then stuck his nose in the air but stopped but then bronced and span and shot off and said he'd had enough.

YO got off because she said she's too old now and put him on the lunge and she thinks he's stiff in his left hip or stifle. He's not lame but he's not moving quite properly and she thinks it's a pain response as it escalated. We know it's not his saddle because it's only recently been fitted by her, she's a saddle fitter and she checked it again.

He's never done that to me, he had a proper sideways spook the first time we went in the arena but not since. So I wonder if he's pulled something when out over the weekend.

He's getting booked in for physio and he's off work until he's been seen 😞

Just feel a bit sad.

Fingers crossed that physio can help, and give you a plan of action for your boy. If there's just one thing I've learnt with horses, it's that patience and time is key. Just take one day at a time. Let us know how things go.

Hopefully.

I've only had him 2 months and he's my first horse so I'm a bit worried about him.

I had him 5 stage vetted so I'm reasonably confident that I wasn't sold a broken horse. Although he was on a hunting yard and wasn't being asked to work properly so I suppose if he had an underlying strain it wouldn't have caused him problems as he was only playing up when asked to work round and properly.

He's never done it with me! But from what the yard owner was saying, he was on the verge of being dangerous.

I've had someone suggest that I get back on him and ride like there is nothing wrong (with someone watching) to see if he behaves the same as he's quite a sensitive soul and he may have just decided he didn't like her style of riding.

But I was going to get his back done soon anyway so he may as well have a full check over to make sure he's okay. Gettin his teeth done the next time the dentist is up in case it's that.

Poor pony :(
