Hi

It's my birthday soon and my two non-horsey friends have agreed to go riding with me as a change to the usual celebrations :)

Can anyone recommend a good local trekking centre that caters for beginners - was thinking perhaps of an hour's trek at walk?

Can anyone recommend anywhere nice within approx 1 hour's drive out of Dudley?

Has anyone been to Cannock Chase Trekking Centre?

Many thanks for any replies

If the peak district isn't too far try this place:

Gorgeous countryside and well set up for all levels of rider. I've only been once but the friends we went with were regulars.

It is probably a bit more than an hour's drive being near buxton, but probably worth the drive, you could have lunch in a country pub or something and make a day of it.

The Chase trekking centre has a good name. It is run by Lisa, she is very nice and helpful. Give them a call I'm sure they will talk it through with you

Thanks for info.

Have been in contact with Cannock Chase and just waiting for my friends to confirm their weight and height :D Have opted for just an hour's hack in walk/trot - I think that's enough for the others as they have never ridden before.. I'm waiting for the John Wayne impressions when they get off lol.

The Peak District is a bit too far as some of us are travelling further than from Dudley but thanks for suggestion, might try that one if they love this one :)
