It’s a tough decision to make, and heartbreaking.

please take comfort that you are preventing unnecessary suffering, which is the final duty we owe our much loved friends.

Hugs, and be kind to yourself.

Last year I looked after a 21 year old pony with liver problems for the last two months of his life. He was on steroids during this time, but had little quality of life. His appetite got less and less, and he was uncomfortable and in pain. I wish his owners had pts sooner. They wanted to give him every chance but in reality those last two months were just rounds of vet visits, blood tests and trying to get him to eat. In the last few days you could see he'd totally shut down. You are making the hardest but best decision. So sorry you've had to make it.

It's never an easy decision but it one that a responsible owner makes for the benefit of the animal, whose quality of life is diminished. I'm so sorry that it has come to this but you should take comfort from the fact that you have made your decision for your pony.

Banner went to Rainbow Bridge this morning with the sun on her back and a carrot in her mouth. Goodbye little pony I will miss you so much, you didn't know how tiny you were as your character was huge. Banner came as a rescue with her daughter Lilli eleven years ago and once she got over her sheer terror of men and other horses she was a delight, she was a brilliant agility pony and at one time was 7th in the international league.

I'm sure she will start an agility group at the Bridge and will be just so bossy.

You did a good thing, I'm sorry it was so hard for you but it was right for her.

Well done for being brave and doing what you feel was best for her, some horses aren't so lucky to have such an owner x

You bravely put the needs of your much loved pony before your own needs. You are suffering, but at least she is at peace. I do hope you can take comfort from that. <hugs>
