My amazing and wonderful 13 1/2 years young GSP has started having diarrhea...lots of it....but only at night..
He has a little doggy dementia and gets a bit confused at times but is in wonderful shape and really good health. I did change his diet about a month ago ( introduced slowly etc) and he has been fine up until the last few nights.
I have match sticks in my eyes sat at my desk today after another incredibly disturbed night. He sleeps on the bed ( no comments please) and woke me by whining about an hour after we went to bed. Rushed outside ( me forgetting to put glasses on and fell over the watering can prob waking the neighbours with my potty mouth ) and emptied.
He was in such a mess I had to wash him. Repeat the above 4 more times once not getting outside in time. Up at 6 and a small amount and then totally fine after his brekky.
He sleeps here in the office with me all day and he is slowing down (as much as I don't want to admit it ) and he has not any accidents at all today.
We have an appointment on Friday for a check up with the vet and I have made the fatal mistake of googling but just wondered if anyone has had any experience of this. I don't think he has eaten anything dodgy as he doesn't go very far from my side.
He does get crushing separation anxiety and I have been out and about the past few days leaving him and his sister alone for 2 hours last night and then for the day on sunday where they decamped to Grampas and had a high old time of it by all accounts so I don't think he got stressed by me not being their. He adores Grampa and stays with him regularly.
He is fine in the day so maybe it is a little stress that I haven't been 24 hours with him but just would appreciate any thoughts.
Thanks as always to you all .

My bet is he got his diet routine out of kilter at grandads...maybe a few treats too many?
I would recommend a waterproof liner inside a cotton bag, with a small "mattress "inside.Placed on your bed it will make your cleanup a lot easier..he still sleeps with you ,but on his own mattress pad. this worked well for me with my elderly, leaky girl.

Thanks all and think you may be right Bellasophia....think Grampa gave them both an out of date sausage.....Was just so worried it was the start of the end with it only being at night. He has been really good the last few nights so hoping its just naughty Grampa. Thanks for all your answers everyone xxxxx

would also suggest putting him on plain chicken diet just for a few days so you can be sure it isn't anything to do with the food - hope he feels better soon - and if he is on your bed, I hope he has his own duvet x
