Poo dance please

No poo? I was dancing for poo. Good she looks brighter though.

If she were mine, I would have the vet give a tube up the nose and much liquid in, asap, then several times a day, until poo appears. The sooner tubing starts and the more consistently it continues, the better, IMO. I hate colic.

Could the vet feel an impaction last night, on an internal exam?

I will keep dancing.

Do you have a box? A trick sweared by many is to pop a colicy horse on the box and take them for a short journey. I know one of our local racehorse trainers swears by this.

Doing the poo macarena here for you 🤞🤞

This was mentioned above and C has no transport. I was talking to a vet yesterday about this and she said it often works, with numerous horses arriving at hospital no longer needing to be operated on.

It's an old traveller trick, I was told it decades ago, and the other, from before transport was readily available, is a really vigorous session on the lunge.

The vet I was talking to says it can flip stuff that's out of place back into place, and if it doesn’t work then it doesn't make anything any worse than it was going to be anyway.

Ah my apologies OP I posted in a rush before work this morning and only skimmed through the thread. Fingers crossed for a poo update soon 🙏

Ycbm that's good to know. I'd often heard it said, and as I say a local trainer swears by it! But very interesting to hear a vet's views on it, and also the lunging technique if no transport readily available.

Yay to poo 💩

I would get teeth thoroughly checked, my older horse had compaction colic we think due to a diastema (gap between teeth that became infected) .. he'd shown no sign of teeth issues up to point of compaction.

She had her teeth check at the end of July with her jabs. It's all a bit of a mystery the only thing I can thing of is the grass has been pretty weird this year. She can be quite anxious so maybe something has stressed her out. She's plotting her escape as we speak.

@meleeka hope things are going in the right direction for you.
I’m not sure. We have hard poo and good gut sounds, but pony still uncomfortable. She’s old so we won’t be investigating further, so it’s just a bit of a waiting game. She’s happy to eat grass and mash so that’s something.
