Hi all,

I am considering starting a poo-picking service using a VAC pasture cleaner towed by an ATV. I was was just wondering if anyone would actually be interested in this type of service before i purchase the equipment which is really expensive. Also would you mind giving me an idea of how much you would be prepared to pay and how often you would use the service. This is just an idea at the moment.

Many thanks in advance for all your help

Similar to beauchamps but ours came weekly. We bought our own vac but wish we hadn't bothered!! Timewise I struggle to get out as regulaly as he did and it was well worth the money as its hard work!!

I would definitely use someone, especially in winter, to come in once a week. Realistically I probably would pay no more than £10 for once a week and maybe £30 for once a month.

Am very much hoping you are going to be setting up business near me!

I'd hire someone once or twice a year for a proper good clean up. Not sure how much I'd want to pay though - depends on how flush I was at the time!!!

Where are you based?

wouldn't use you because horses in large fied and just chain harrow as required plus often graze with sheep and/or cattle, but could see smaller grazing areas use service would ypu leave poo there or dispose of it?

You need to clarify when you ask how much you would pay - are you charging by the hour? I ticked the £21-30, assuming it would take about an hour to do my field once a month.

I don't know if that's feasible though - 7 horses do a lot of dung! I would probably set a budget of £30-£40 in the summer for one good monthly clear up and then still poo pick a little bit weekly to keep it tidy. Not sure I would need it in the winter as they are only out for a few hours and my field gets too boggy.

As a guide it takes me about an 30 mins to poo pick, empty and wash out the poo picker for a 5 acre field with 4 horses out during the day doing it daily.

Thanks eggs. I would charge by the hour so that gives me something to work off. So far things are looking very positive. I would be based in Cheshire should it be a viable venture.

Thanks for all your feedback
