I noticed yesterday that my mare's poo is looking abit hard. In winter she only has hay and a small feed of chaff and speedibeet. Is there anything I can give her that will soften them up abit? I had thought of cutting her a bucket of grass every day.

Is her hay wet? Also how long do you soak your speedi beet for? I know it says 10 minutes but I leave mine a good few hours and I swear it swells even more.

I'm sure she'd love a bucket of grass too though

Failing that Biotal equine gold is very good for digestive disorders.

More water in the speedibeet? My FB drinks much less in the winter so has quite dry poo. Mine don't have grazing at all, except a scroffle on the verges on the way to the field so I make their feed quite wet.

I bet she'd love a bucket of grass, whether it helps the poo or not!

Her hay isn't wet. I don't know how long the speedibeet is soaked for as she is on full livery. Her poo isn't drastically hard its just brown and harder than normal. I think I'll get some grass cut for her and see how she goes. If no change I'll give the Biotal a try.
