Poohing in water troughs!

My sisters horse has taken to poohing in his water trough.. not ideal! He's done it about 4 times over the weekend and now has permanent bucket of water in his stable!
any ideas to help!?

only think i can think of is put his hay in a different place.

Get one of those buckets you hang on a clip to the wall.
Or...move water bucket?

give him 2 water buckets in different places in stable, some horses never seem to learn unfortunately.
i've found that having the water right beside the hay is the safest place for it, fwiw... it may get lots of hay in it, but rarely poo!

the problem is that its an automatic water trough, so we cant move it!! its also in the opposite corner from his hay, i think he's just a dopey horse!

My yearling likes to occasionally poo in his water bucket ..
He also reverses up to the wall and poo leaving nice skid marks down the white wall

my 11 year old always used to poo in his automatic water drinker, in the end we had to put a plastic bag over the top and just a bucket in his stable.
he has now moved and has an automatic one at the front and he doesnt touch it, unlike the one he had at the back
