I got a letter today from the vet which upset me quite a lot. It was a letter telling me that J's vaccinations are due next month, and can I make an appointment.

They put J to sleep in March.

Obviously an admin mistake, but what a mistake to make. I was in tears tonight.

That's bad. Brakenhappy told me a similar thing happened to her after she lost coco. I guess you think about them all the time but things like that really bring home the fact that they are gone.

This might make you chuckle.

When I read the title of your post I was puzzling on how you would know that "HHO admin" would be at the vets?? PMSL!!

Aww, that rubbish.

We had a similar thing when our horse was seriously injured in a road accident, he need to be PTS sleep ASAP. we called the vet and the huntsman at the same time, huntsman was there in 20 mins and my poor baby was shot and taken away.

Very sorry to hear that. I lost Cat in Feb after a long illness & I'd hate for something like that to arrive out of the blue. It can be hard enough coping with the 'expected' some days.

I keep a 5 year diary & this time last year we were starting to realise how ill Cat was, so when I write my diary I have to try not to look at the line above.

Try to do something to distract yourself - I find that it doesn't help at all to dwell on it cos it snowballs into a massive mopey episode.

They did the same with me. Whhen we took chloe to the vets to be PTS my mum paid that day, Three weeks later i had a bill for the treatment. They claimed that they didnt realise my mum had paid. Lucky she used her credit card so she had proof. it brought all the feelings of that day back

So sorry about that, i do the admin/ and am front of desk at my vets and that is a very bad mistake by someone at that practice. I would just maybe drop them a line and explain how you feel as then it would make them aware of whats happened, it could prevent them from doing it again to someone else too.If i had made that mistake i would want to know. So sorry, poor thing.

Same thing happened to me. My old mare was put to sleep after breaking her shoulder (undetected osteoporosis/old age) but they obviously didn't update their records and I got a reminder for her jabs. I wrote a letter explaining she had been pts by one of their vets and received an apology.

The cat vet nurse/receptionist has put RIP next to my two that have gone to kittencat heaven - that made me cry the first time I saw it on the screen - but at least it makes things clear!

I am so sorry you had to be reminded of that, what a horrible mistake.
Very suprised that his passing was not recorded.

Starbucks I am not suprised they weren't paid, that is a horrible thing to have gone through.
Sometimes makes me wonder if all they want are money.
