Poor Baron has and infected leg :(

Baron got a small cut on his leg on sunday. Thought nothing of it as it was only small and no blood or heat. Cleaned it and put some spray and wound powder on. Have carried on cleaning it daily and it scabbed over and seemed to have healed.

Went down today and his leg was massive

Called vet right away as he would not let me near it and when I cold hosed it there was steam coming off it!!

So hes now on antibiotics and bute for a week and has to stay in his stable. Hes looking very sorry for himself. Although he is very lame he is putting weight on it fine and even resting the opposite leg so hopefully by tomorrow night it should have gone down lots when the antibiotics kick in.

Please send him positive vibes and cross your fingers that it doesnt get worse

Poor old Baron, amazing what problems can come from a tiny cut. Hope his leg is back to normal soon.

Thanks everyone. It was even bigger this morning

Hopefully thats just due to being in all night, vet did say I wont see an improvement for 24hrs. He is walking on it much better though.

Hes looking quite sad which isnt like him so hopefully he will have perked up a bit tonight as hes had 2 bute again this morning.

O dear. We had a similar thing last night. Oscar never gets cuts and is quite hardy really but he had a 1 inch cut on the top of his leg thats swollen like a balloon!!

We hosed it and put some cream on it to try and draw out anything thats stuck in it and thankfully today it seems to have gone down.
