Took my son(hes 5 ) riding on his pony this morning he has not wanted to ride for months ,so I was so pleased when he said he wanted a ride a lunged his pony for a short while just to take the edge of him not that hes naughty hes very good its more for my peace of mind, as we were going down the field the farmer brought a tractor down the track the trailer bounced on a pot hole and made a big bang the pony jumped and he lost balanced while waving to the farmer he fell off out the side door, and put his hands in some thistles, I made him get back on but he says he never wants to ride again

Im really sad this had to happen I don t think im going to get him back on ive never forced him to ride which makes it even worse.

How unlucky - hope he is feeling better now.

I'm sure that he will want to ride again with time.

Just an idea, but my brother was very faddy about riding. When he watch a cowboy film on the telly, he used to want to go out and ride his pony - albeit with a cowboy hat on top of his helmet! He always wanted to ride if there was a competition or others doing the same thing. Perhaps if you made it more of a game or took him out riding with other people of the same age that might help.
