Fell really low, I need hugs sorry.
The saga with Chantin continues
. Not only have we had the major problems with the mud fever which has meant her not playing out in the field for the past 3 weeks ish
, she has now started with swellings all over her neck and sides.
It started about 1 week ago but I initially put it down to midge bites as when I groomed her there were little scabs coming off her leaving bald ares. Cleaned them up and left it like that. Over the last 5 days they have got worse, from the odd lump or two to huge areas of lumps and lots of swollen areas.
Got to the yard yesterday morning to find her off side completely covered in large patches of swollen areas
, then lots of little bumbs/scabs
and a huge patch right on her shoulder/chest
. Called the vet and booked her in for Friday but when I got to the yard last night from work they had got worse
. Had planned on riding but gave it a miss and took her out for a walk in hand instead. So called the vet whilst we were out walking and 5 mins after I got back the vet arrived.
Vet thinks its really bad
. Weve gone through everything, from feed. supplements, hay, bedding, rugs, washing powder, fabric condition, treatments on the bedding as I use shavings, new rugs, old rugs, pollen, trees, flies/midges - Cant think of anything that wouldve caused this
. Her temperature, breathing etc is fine. So shes had a steroid injection to help with the itching and swelling, shes taken 4 samples of blood for testing for allergies etc, and shes now on 6 Piriton tablets twice a day until further notice. Ive got to go to the vets today to collect a prescription for more Piriton. So no rugs on to see if it helps however if it gets worse then shes to be rugged - good job I didnt clip her last weekend. I then ive just got to wait for the blood test results which could take up to 1 week, if not a bit longer
Please guys I need your positive vibes/hugs as shes just really not looking good at the mo. Shes quite bright in herself but as soon as you start to investigate these lumps or groom her shes getting really upset. Flighty was trying to groom her last night and you could tell she wanted her to groom her but it was hurting her too much, so she kept walking off.
Off to phone the vet in a little while, as soon as they open
