story- local lurcher bitch is having a litter of puppies, third or fourth litter in 2 years? Daddy dog unknown, maybe a spaniel. Trouble is, poor thing is looking tired and very thin. I don't want to interfere (long story revolving around land lords). she normally has 7 or 8 pups, last unwanted litter all but 2 were 'lost'. (use your brains there). Very sad, feel sorry for the girl. What would you do??

Tricky one as they're bound by the law. They can advise, but as far as I know (I only know the law well as it relates to horses) they can only take possession of an animal if a veterinary surgeon says it is suffering and even then they have to bring a successful prosecution to keep it - if the prosecution fails they have to give it back.

Giving them a call can't hurt, but don't expect the world because they can't give it I'm afraid

They might be able to do something though.

ETA: the RSPCA might also be able to advise on vouchers for spaying for her? I know some organisations do them not sure who but it could be something they would know about?

Yep, Dogs Trust I think do vouchers as well, through local rescues? That's what they do here anyway.

The RSPCA will probably say if she has food and water and shelter, there won't be much they can do.
