Why are people so cruel?

Some gypsies threw a sick/injured dog into the field near my garden. The farmer didn't see it with him combine and the poor thing was mangled :( it sadly wasn't killed by the combine and had to be shot.
The poor farmer, who's the young son of the owner of the farm is traumatised by the whole event.

How awful :( out of pure wonder... How do you know it was gyspies that threw it ..... ?

That's what they told us, I've no idea, but there are some close by with dogs. They don't usually cause a bother (I've never actually seen one, that I know of) but perhaps the farmers had trouble with them before, I don't know.

I have to admit that was my thought, and how did the farmer know it was already injured if he didn't see it before he ran over it. Poor dog, and poor bloke who ran it over, must have been very upsetting for him.

I'm afraid I don't know anymore than I wrote in the OP, so you can speculate all you like, I can honestly tell you no more.

Either way, it's a nasty and unusual event for our little village :(

Dog is just as likely to have strayed into the field and could well have been uninjured prior to being combined. I know last year a couple of the livery yards neighbors cats got killed when the hay was being cut (neither had been dumped or were injured prior, as far as anyone knows).

Animals don't always run out the way even if they are fit and healthy. :(

Sorry Nah, wasn't trying to interrogate you, just wanted to point out that there might be a slightly less sinister background, although as you say still a horrible thing to have happened.:(
