My 3 1/2 year old golden cocker spaniel was pts this morning. He was fading fast, and vet said it was all in his head, nothing physical. He was knocked down a year ago and broke his hip, that healed well, but he was left incontinent, so couldnt come in the house anymore. I have purpose built kennels, as previous owner bred grey hounds, so I put him and the retriever in the kennels, last 4 months, harvey started to loose weight, took him to vet, who checked him out and could find no reason, fast forward to yesterday, dog just fading before my eyes, even though he was prob getting about 4 times more feed than he should be. To be knid to him, he was pts, as he was gone to far to recover. Wish i knew why it happened, vet seems to think, "post traumatic stress" type of thing. At least my poor harvey is not stressed anymore!!!

Im so sorry to hear about poor Harvey how heartbreaking for you.

You have done everything possible but were left with no choice, I know how you feel.

Take comfort from the fact that you gave him every chance but it was not to be. So sad.

Big hugs I am so so sorry for your loss. Unfortunately sometimes no matter how hard we fight for them it is just not meant to be.

Oh thanks guys, i#m crying reading the comments, i didnt get a pm done,as i just dont have the money. My poor retriever doesnt know what to do with himself, i brought him up to the house, couldnt leave him in the kennels by himself. such fun, trying to get shadow, the retriever, tigger, the cat & alex, the puppy to all get along. i'll be up all night!!

So sorry to hear this, but it sounds like you gave him every chance, and you did the kindest thing for him. I hope the other animals soon settle down, the puppy will be company for Shadow and I am sure they will soon be best of friends.
