I was linked this by a friend. Made me feel sick to my stomach, that poor animal must be in a mountain of pain :(

Please do not watch if you are squimish, it doesnt make for nice viewing...

Poor thing! Why put the poor horse through all of that and not just put him/her to sleep right there and then? :(
 
I'm a bit confused by that. I dont know whether that horse has had any treatment or anything. The only bit of hope I could see was that he/she seemed interested in nibbling any bits of hay after being lifted up so might not be in immense pain?
 
Why was the horse in this state and why was it lifted to its feet and not pts? No sound so have i missed something? What is the point of this video? Tbh iv seen alot worse in real life!!

thought it doesnt look like it has a broken leg, just a swollen/infected hock, or maybe a cancerous tumour growing on its hock ..

Yeah same as everyone else by the looks of it!

It's a horse with some sort of serious injury, we don't have a clue what's going on and doesn't look like they are doing anything horrific to him/her??

Still confused.

My horse completely fractured his P2 and was weight bearing (like said horse) enough to walk across the field to get to his stable! So for all we know it could infact be broken or a slight fracture. But i agree not graphic and like others i do not see the point of this tread!!
 
I also didn't think it was that bad, the horse was able to put some weight on the injured leg, it picked at hay & once it was on it's feet the man gave it a hug.
I had my finger over the stop button as I thought something horrible might be able to happen - for all we know it was under the care of a vet & had a treatable condition.
 
When i was a very young child i remember a horse on our yard breaking its leg (hind) and its kind owner took it in a trailer to the meatman to get more money for it while it was alive! It was my friends pony too!! What an evil man
 
I don't understand. If the horse had broken a leg then a) it wouldn't be weight bearing b) it wouldn't be picking at bits of hay (unless the accident had just happened would it??) c) it wouldn't be allowed to lie down.
 
I was waiting for some awful accident with the winch, horse getting hung up or something. That leg looks nasty but who's to know what's wrong with it and how it is being treated. Could be on masses of painkillers and under a vet? Horse doesn't seem distressed, picking at food, happy to move about once back on feet, very calm through the whole thing.

Yesterday i followed a link through to a video of a cow that only had top part of its head left after an accident of some sort but was still alive and looking round bewildered in a field - was not expecting to see that at all, now THAT was graphic and awful.
 
i think the op was just warning poeple that may be squeemish. Horses can weightbare, my next door neighbours horse has a broken leg and managed to walk back to the stable and is able to weight bare in her cast.
I have witnessed a young exmoor foal with a horrific broken leg. The leg was hanging on by a tendon and abit of muscle and skin just above the hock (no exageration!(sp) you could see the bone and everything! the vet put him to sleep and i had to help lift him out of the hay manger and into a trailer ready to be taken away. the mare was ovbiously distraught but soon settled.
 
90% of you would be up-in-arms if the horse had been shot without attempting to save it, because they have, 90% are up-in-arms for trying to save it. can't win.
I have to say, the horse does not look very upset or distressed.
 
It would be interesting if anyone out there could translate the Russian so that no-one had to guess what was going on!

IMO the horse does not look stressed at all. It has been bedded down on a sandy floor (please note no digging marks in the sand) and is very patiently waiting to be hoised up onto its feet. There is still some hay at the resting place (not alot grant you but what would you expect if it had laid there and eaten everything in reach) and it is eager to graze once on its feet. The horse is very very calm during the hoisting not phased at all so it must be used to it.

Beside the loss of condition and the terrible wound there does not seem to be any sign of deliberate mistreatment. Rather the opposite.
 
If I had to guess I would say that the horse has a massive joint infection. Either way I would not imagine a good outcome. The pens look like holding pens for farming rather than a private yard so I wonder what the destiny of this horse is anyway.
 
I have to say i was expecting a horse with its leg pretty much snapped in 2. IMO nothing squeamish about it and you can see the owners (if they are the owners) were concerned, the horse actually looked happy - well happy enough to grab a snatch of hay whilst being hoisted - hardly distressed.
