I just came across this, I no things like this get posted all the time, but it's so sad. What pleasure do people get from doing this :mad:

This is the right up that was with the pic..

WARNING! Upsetting image. This poor horse was found dead with it's legs tied together near Mylerstown, Nurney today. We can't tell what caused his death yet as the injury is probably on the other side of his body. The poor thing has whip marks on his back which you can't see in the photo & obviously died or was killed elsewhere and his body then dragged from a horsebox & dumped on the side of the road. Heartless people to do this. If anyone knows anything about where the horse came from or who the owners are, please contact us.

Terrible I wonder which "section of the community" this poor animal belonged to, I can guess.

The worst thing is the monsters who did this walk amongst us without a care in the world..

RIP poor horse :(

I am guessing the same as others - plus I am sure they would have needed a fair amount of man power to lift poor animal :(

Horrific and very sad the only consolation being the poor animals suffering is finally over just wish it hadn't had to suffer at all :(
 
There is an awful lot of this happening now!
Not necessarily a cruelty case, but someone who couldnt/wouldnt pay to have the carcass taken away and just dumped the body!!
That is one scenario anyway!

This isnt a 'traveller' pony - look at the condition of the coat, the way the mane and tail are brushed out, pulled and banged. This horse has been very well looked after, well fed and rugged until very very recently... its a sad fact that its quite possible that his/her owners simply couldnt afford the disposal costs, or that it has been stolen and passed away in transit....

I daresay the ropes around the legs are simply to move it with.

I would tend to agree with all of this. Not that it's ok to dump a body on the roadside of course, but lets not all jump to conclusions!

How do the people saying it was well looked after explain the whip marks all over it's back (according to the description)?

I don't know where it came from, but I think if anyone truly loved their horse they wouldn't dump it's body in that manner.
 
Rose hip- I can understand what you're saying , however you can see its mane or forelock or it's tail clearly enough to see if they've been pulled/cut?

It may not be whip marks!
Sometimes my lot have marks that could be mistaken for whip marks, they arent they are made from getting under trees/ bushes hawthorn, and scratching themseves!:rolleyes:
Any way all of this is purely conjecture isnt it!!
Appalling to fly tip a carcass though whatever!!
 
I don't know how reputable the group on Facebook are that posted this, but it's impossible to see what the story of this poor horse is from the photo.

Certainly there's nothing in the photo to say it was a cruelty case, or belonged to any particular section of the community.

I ride past the a traveller camp every time I hack and I have never, ever seen a horse like this tethered on the common. Believe me, if I had I'd have pinched it for myself. All I see are hairy traditionals (which are lovely, but not my own personal cup of tea). This horse really doesn't look like any thing the travelling community round me own.
 
Hmm not nice.

BUT, it was not dragged from a box, see any Tyre/feet/draging prints? I couldn't.

also the mud on it's legs... obviously stood on all fours to equally mark like it has.

Whip marks could well be winch/floor(in the box) marks.

All be it very strange, but if you can't afford to dispose of the animal how can you buy/maintain it?

Whatever form of life did this seriously needs a slap.
 
Not all traveller horses are hairy cobs. The trotters on the gypsy programme last week were not unlike this type, and I have seen some like this on programmes about Appleby.

Might this not be the worse type of "fly tipping" where a disreputable character has offered to dispose of a horse's body for cash.

This poor horse is sadly very much like a trotter I see often. It takes a lot of man power to move an animal like this.
 
No doubt when all horses are microchipped for passport legal requirements this kind of thing might stop??Do I believe that?.......... Um!!

Poor horse it looks like it had been a healthy looking horse ie not underfed etc

Would be good to know why it died as a first off? Does look a trotter?? Am hoping the ropes were used just to drag the body and not for anything awful.
 
This is truly horrific :(

Apologies for possibly sounding a bit thick - does anyone know if horses swell once they've died? This one looks to me like its underside neck and chest is slightly swollen? Could just be the way its 'lying' there though. Just curious!
