Inky's right eye has been watering for a while now. I put it down to the flies and the wind but it was only in one eye. So rang the vet today who came out to look. He suspected ( as did i as my old pony had the same thing ) that he had blocked tear ducts. He had to sedate the little one and put green dye in his eyes!! He looked really wierd with illuminous green eyes! This was to see if the dye came out of his nostrils, as it should........ It didnt

so he put a small catheter tube up inot the little hole in the nostrils and flushed the duct out with water to unblock it. It was a real struggle as Inky's nostrils are only the size of a 10p. Its all flushed out now and he's got some antibiotic drops. Inky was so sedated we had to carry him to the stable between us as he couldnt walk!!! ( didnt do it in the stable as needed as much light as possible ) So Inky is feeling very sorry for himself today

Poor little Inky, I hope it clears up really quickly now!
It always seems particularly horrid, anything to do with the eyes, I guess because we're so protective of them? *shudder!*
Big huggle to Inky! xx

Poor Inky, hope he makes a speedy recovery!!

I am smiling though at the vision of carrying him to the stable, I just have a Thelwell vision!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

H used to get blocked tear ducts quite easily, wasnt very nice, if you notice it watering more than usual in the future ask your vet for some drops and then hopefully you can flush it through before it needs a tube up it, hope he feels ok now xx
