Well for the first time in 13 years I had to watch Kia display colic symptoms :( he has never colicked or shown any symptoms so we were very surprised to find him like this :(

This was him not like him to stay lying down with people around him :(

So we walked him for half an hour, mostly walk with short trots this produced two small formed poos but every time we stopped he was going down and was heaving, sweating and panting very uncomfy poor man.

So called the vet explained everything and they sent someone out to him. Practice owner turned up, very relieved I have a lot of respect for him and he calmly assessed him sedated and checked him over internal and external, cleaned him out a bit and said likely gas colic so gave him a big dose of bute and buscopan and told us to walk him for ten mins every hour for the next four to five hours.

So going to be a long night but he's looking like this on the painkillers so hoping he will be fine :)

So hoping he's over the worst but he's on nil by mouth until half seven so hoping he's not going to be sore for long. He colicked at one pm so been running about all day I'll update through the night.

Meant to add this in as catching up as he colicked at 1pm.

So at half seven Kia had another walk with short trots, he's also had a small feet of half scoop of sloppy beetpulp and half a scoop of soaked alfalfa cubes. Tucked into this and a small half hay net of hay, looking a lot brighter and nickering for food. He's not pooped yet so on watch until he passes something then we can relax.

Fingers crossed for some poop please peeps x

When a horse colic's is the only time I'm happy to see horse poo
 
I'm sure he'll be ok. That is exactly what Rubic was like back in September with her gassy colic, I brought her in and she kept lying down and rolling etc which she never does in front of anyone (even me!). She was much brighter after the vet had been and she got painkillers and buscopan. It took a couple of days for her to be 100% back to normal though but she did recover quickly. I honestly think it is the weather just now It was definitely all the stress, medication and restricted grazing she'd had then suddenly getting to go on a tiny patch of good grass.
 
Good luck with him - looks like you caught it nice and early and are doing all the right things for him and he looks a lot brighter as you say. Good old mum! :)
 
His loan mummy has been awesome, being broken I can't really do much and today was just a random visit. Her and her daughter (Kia's wee jockey :) ) and my other friend have been walking him and putting up with me all day and were great holding him for the vet, don't know what I would do without such awesome friends.

Heading back up just now for another walk a small feed and another small haynet, hoping for poo in the bed
 
The celebration when a horse poos normally after colic is shocking. Such a pleasing sight!

Oh mu goodness, what a face, I could shnuggle that face all day long, he's gorgeous. Poor boy...hoping you get poo soon and that he wakes up tomorrow feeling right as rain :)
 
Everything crossed for you! Having a pony who likes to go on little holidays to the horsepital with gassy colic I know how you're feeling! I'm sure he will be fine. Does he have a noisy or quiet gut?
 
Thank you everyone. I've had to go home as I'm sore and shutterbug has taken over poo watch (she has him on loan for her daughter whilst I'm recovering) so hoping I get a call about poo during the night.

If no poo by tomorrow morn then I've to call the vet again. If he goes down again or starts showing the rolling and pawing vet will be put ASAP.

Vibes are helping so thank you just need a big poo, so sad us horsey people wanting poop.
