I couldn't let the poor love suffer such indignity for my own selfish need or want. Another case of a paper supporting the prolonged suffering of an innocent animal. $11,500 a month to keep Ariel suffering, I for one will not be donating.

Warning the pictures are distressing to look at, I couldn't bring myself to watch the video :(

I got the impression they were waiting for scan results to see what to do, personally if they came back as hopeless they surely have to let him go.

Oh my! The poor thing! They should put him out of his misery. That must be such torment for such a powerful animal as a lion. Can't believe they are happy to let him suffer like that.
Its not just cruelty, its mental cruelty as well. His expression says it all. Couldn't watch the video, the photos were enough for me. Awful.

It seems he is just some vet's sick experiment now. Israeli vets have been testing him, they are now due to publish their results, somehow I doubt it will give Ariel any relief.

I also hate the pictures of the vet kissing and hugging him, I don't think it is acceptable for a trained professional to treat him with such indignity. How she can live with her self keeping him in such hell I will never know. If I was in that lions position I would want my suffering ended.

God that is shocking. I heard this on the radio this morning but hadn't read anything about it. You wouldn't keep a domestic dog or cat like that for a sustained period so why this lion? It's quite disturbing. In fact, I am disturbed enough to read that essentially this lion seems to have been kept as a 'pet' in the first place - sleeping in her bed??!! It's wrong on soo many levels! These animals whould be left wild or, at the very worst be in a safari park/reserve to be as wild as is possible. The woman in this story is a disgrace, she should stop being so selfish and let this poor animal go.

I can not believe vets have allowed this to continue, it is cruel. Plain and simple.

Its wrong anyway but for me its made worse by the video where they are putting him in a hoist and he is trying to bite them!!!! clearly not a happy lion!! :(

The whole balance of care for animals seems to be completely out of kilter at times. ££££££'s spent when the kindest and most responsible thing to do is pts, mindless evil cruelty inflicted at the other end.

What a strange world ours is becoming.

I dont mind how much money is spent on an animal, I think everything should be done *if* the animal can improve. However, if its going to put the animal through a lot of pain and suffering - the kindest thing would be put it down.

He needs to be PTS. No quality of life, not fair for a predator such as a lion. Plus my dad died after having ms for 5 years and I know how awful and undignified it can be, for a lion to go through this with no understanding in a completely unnatural environment, it's cruel

this actually has me thinking about all those poor animals kept in labs, how is what they are doing any better? cruelty for their own egos! disgusting, poor boy :(
