I'm really worried about the foal on my yard. He's ten months old now but has OCD in his stifle and went to Rossdales for an op to clean up the joint. The OCD was in an unusual place (on the medial/inside of the joint) and prognosis was 'reasonable'. But he has been on box rest for eight weeks now. He was supposed to get out in a small enclosure next week but the joint is still swollen, and he is still just as lame. 
He has had the joint fluid tapped and there is no infection, but I know things are not as they should be. Has anyone had any experience of this,good or bad? My heart bleeds for him being confined to a stable at such a young age. He is coping really well, but I am expecting it to send him loopy if he gets to the end of his tether. He always has at least one horse next to him for company which helps, but I just want to get him out!
