Thats the vet booked for Wednesday afternoon to come and remove certain parts of his anatomy - poor little monster doesn't know whats in store for him. :p:p

So don't tell him..........gone before he knows what they're for; that's the best way :-)

Yup, thats the plan. Have dealt with my sister's tb who wasn't done until 13 months and after he discovered what they were for and he's always retained slight riggy tendancies.

I have emailed him, he is busily putting his nuts where the sun does not shine.

Shall have to rescind computer privilages until after wednesday :p

Having his pockets picked :)

yup, not much to take tho :p

I only had one colt born this year, the rest were all fillies and I'm having my colt done in a couple of weeks too then it's over and done with. I usually wait till my colts are around 13 or 14 months old but a couple of years ago I had the only colt done at 5-6 months old and it was such a non-event that I think I'll always do it like this in future.

Thats my thinking, plus he's going out into a group with his half sister in a month or two so not worth the risk that he's an early developer. He's just over 4 months now but they've been down for a good couple of months.

ah bless him! My horse was only gelded a year ago (at 3) and I wish his breeder had had him gelded sooner (his breeder was not the most responsible, poor horse was kept in a shed on an allotment for some of his early life!) as he still displays of lot of stallion like behaviour. I think it is really responsible what you are doing gelding before he has realized what they are for :)

Ty I figure that he has no need of them so better he looses them before he knows what hes loosing so to speak

My colts have all been born with two testicles down and although I don't want to geld them too young, I also am quite happy with having them castrated earlier than I used to. Hope all goes well for your little boy :smile3:

Well all done, very impressed with the vet. Knocked him out nice and calmly, gelded quickly but neatly and then stayed until Milo woke up on his own, didn't try to rush him or anything.
Am going to head back up soon to check on him - feeling a little sorry for himself now

yeh, have to say again was very impressed with the vet, just got on and did the job quickly with minimum of fuss but care for Milo making as stress-free as possible.
Just got back from checking him again and he seems happy enough, not walking like john wayne yet and happy to come up and have mints and cuddles
