Poor horse, very good that it is ok though - amazing how sometimes they can avoid serious injury. Having done similar with two horses in a trailer, I know how relieved the owners must be.

I'd be surprised if the poor thing will ever want to get in a box again. It was good that they took down the fencing to get it into a field and didn't just try to force it into the box.

I have to say it just adds another reason to the list of why I will never travel my ponies in a trailer. I was panicked enough when the central partition fell on my shettie once, luckily I was driving behind so got my dad to pull over and it didn't touch her as she was so small.

Ditto that T_K - didn't like trailers in the first place, and after being with my friend when hers crashed - never will again

My mum got caught in a sidewind once taking 2 ponies to Wales for covering - trailer jacknifed , writing off the towing vehicle, and turned over.
Both ponies were unhurt and walked straight onto another trailer sent to pick them up!!!
My mum has never towed a trailer since!

well done to the rescue people sounds like they really did a fab job even removing fencing in an effort to calm the horse.

hugs to everyone involved.

'partition used even though only one horse travelling'
bit confused on that comment as i don't know of anyone that wouldn't use their partitions at all times ( OK travelling mare and foals is the exception or a huge horse but otherwise ???)

hiya everyone i am ruby.

this is the 1st post i have made and i think i shoould let every one know how kiz is

kizzy (the horse that was stuck in the box- my lovely horse) is a little superstar and i cannot thank her enough for how brave she was

the only injurys she has got on her is a little cut on her lip/nose and a hemotoma (spelling is propbs wrong ) on her stifle , wich is a pocket of blood wich has caused swelling , and a sore back , from where she tried to get up in the trailer and has strained against the partition , but it is nothing un-fixable.

i rearly dont know if she wil ever load again but she is such a brave mare hor how old she is - 5 :O but she has been such a good girl hrough it all and is back to her normal cheeky self

Hope Kizzy gets back to normal soon--so glad she didnt panic
Perhaps you will let us know how the accident happened when you are ready.
Hugs for both of you

Glad to hear that she is OK. I bought a horse that had gone thru the floor of a trailer (with the previous owners) whilst going down the motorway and she always loaded afterwards. I also know someone that flipped their trailer and their 2 horses loaded OK as well.

I thought it was about your horse from your other post, gosh how terrible but at the same time very lucky to escape it, poor owners they must of been beside themselves.

Rubykiz: so glad your horse is ok.....
My mums neighbour flipped her trailer on the M65 with 2 horses in - the woman in the car behind said they went 360 degrees nose to tail (just awful).
The neighbours horse was thrown clear, and he got a heamatoma on his flank.
My mums horse was stuck in the trailer wreck on its side too, and he was hunched up in the front and burst out of the roof when the fire engine arrived with sirens on.
Needless to say, both were loaded off the motorway into a lorry whilst sedated, and the neighbours horse got straight back into a trailer no probs when going home from vets.
My mums horse had concussion and gash down to the skull, a badly injured stifle joint, with ruptured middle patella. and general cuts and abrasions - the wound took 6 months to close, but you'd never know he's had stitches to his head as there's no scarring at all. He spent 2 weeks in intensive care, and when it came to taking him home, putting travel boots on freaked him out, he loaded into our horsebox (lorry after 3 quiet attempts) without boots.
He's also travelled fine since but we're fortunate not to have to use a trailer (we would never try after what he went through).
He's fully recovered now, although he is starting to stiffen in the joint. He as lively and well as ever and has even been back out at affilliated Dressage.
They really are quite resilient, and whilst Kizzy probably feels a little battered a bruised i'm sure she'll be fine when it comes to travelling her again.
All the best, you must be sooooo relieved she's ok.
