Poor parelli service

Carmen1 - welcome to the site! :D

Can't quote off my phone but I do not agree that Pat Parelli has a 'heart of gold,' or a 'good horseman,' and if he has 'learnt from the best' then he must have forgotten an awful lot....:D

Things can get quite heated on here re Parelli as most think it's a load of old balls

:D

Thanks Patterdale for the welcome.

Okay, lets rephase that one. He "used to" have a heart of gold and was a good horseman many hears ago. People do change.
Thanks also for the warning too. :)

So there is a saddle now too? Parelli saddle or not, people should check all the professionals they use have the relevant certification, its why they went to study in the first place, to get qualified! Then the experience builds on the knowledge.

They go up to 4 grand!! It's sickening, you could have two brand new top of the range Albions for that!!!

Do you know, it's funny - I've always ridden in an 'English' saddle with a 'rather narrow gullet' pinching my poor horse's withers and shoulders; and yet my horse doesn't look like the horse in those pictures...

Maybe my saddler took pity on me and switched my saddle for a Parelli saddle when I wasn't looking...

If you stand your ground eventually you will get your money back. A riding client of ours had bought one of these overprices Parelli saddles , hated it and didnt feel secure [ maybe all the shims were the reason!?} and send it back as a bad fit. We went with her to local store - a nearly new second hand wide Working hunter Jeffries for £400[ a quarter of parelli saddle price]n fitted her and horse excellently.

Pat is a good horseman who has a heart of gold and has learnt off the best, Tom Dorrance, Ray Hunt etc. All Linda has done is put it down on paper for more and more people to see, then the marketing hit in! There are a lot of people out there who "Do Parelli, but don't Get Parelli" hence why the bad name. As an Ex Parelli Student (Ex because it got far too commercialised and political) i can openly say that i see so many people who "do parelli" but watching them its not Parelli.

I completely disagree. The problem with Parelli is the Parellis! I have seen many of their ex students who I would trust with a horse, I wouldn't let Pat or Linda anywhere near mine.

Generally it seems to be the ones who don't feel the need to entirely dominate their horses, who take the bits they like from the Parelli programme and add a good dose of common sense and HORSEMANSHIP!

Ditto Rhino.

If it were inexperienced 'followers' who were getting the bad press & being involved in certain high profile incideents / videos, I would personally be more forgiving. My issue with it is that the really bad stuff involved the very people, that is P &/or L, who are meant to be the best examples possible.

As it happens I know some people who use it & are very kind people, not hitting them with the clips etc. I'd much rather trust them than their mentors.
