Yeh, mine got an extra hug last night.

Sweet dreams young lady. May you rest peaceful in your sleep.

My sincere condolences to all concerned especially to her parents who have a beautiful little princess now watching over them as an angel.

Will be thinking of you all today.

Sleep tight and God bless.

What a horrible, tragic accident. My thoughts are with her family and friends.

This is the second fatal accident I have heard of in the space of weeks where the rider was stepped on by the horse. A little Swedish girl died only weeks ago from being stepped on the stomach when she fell off her horse during a riding lesson. According to the newspaper report I found, she had a bruise on her stomach but seemed ok at first, but died from internal bleeding. It is quite scary really.

my thoughts exactly.

How terribly sad, thoughts go out to her family.

Unfortunately as bad as it sounds it's something that could easily happen to any of us, really does hit home how dangerous such an enjoyable sport can be at times.

Thats so sad and really makes you realise how fragile we are.

The family must feel terrible.

Why does it take so long for the inquest?
They have done a post mortem and know the cause of death.

The family will want closer, not an impending hearing.

Kan might possibly have helped or Exo might have helped, but neither actually covers the lower abdomen (or you wouldn't be able to fold) and major crush injuries from a shod horse would be bad news there.

The horse might have slipped off the solid cage of the exo anyway - and at that proximity (horse's foot with 3-4 inches of neck/face/lower abdomen, it would be luck whether it misses or hits a protected area or an unprotected area.

Sympathy to the family

Inquests always take a while, however in these type of tragic circumstances they do try to push them through asap as soon as they have all the reports in.

Just to give a little context here - Charlotte had been on national dressage teams and was a very competent rider

The jumps were tiny and the tragic event was captured on cctv. The horse suffered a rotational fall and crushed poor Charlotte. A kan would probably not have saved her life.

Thoughts go out to her family, who are obviously devastated.
