Poor Tessie

Tessie got bit by something yesterday and the right side of her face swelled up like a balloon. Went to the vets to find out she had 2 deep puncture wounds

Vet didn't want to do anything that would stress her out as she's 14 with a heart condition so he used a local anasthetic and flushed the wounds out and gave her a course of antibiotics, anti inflammatories and metacam. Left the wound open too.

Poor little girl, she looks so miserable and yet she still wags her tail and wolfed her food down with relish...so she can't be feeling that bad. But she's gonna sulk as she's been told that she can't go anywhere for a few days.

Course it's put dad on the warpath and he's gonna hunt whatever bit her with the terrier man tomorrow -eyeroll- Nothing hurts his precious lol.

aw poor old tess...I hope shes as good as new soon...and your dad finds the culprit did the vet give any clues as to species of said culprit?!

The wounds suggest either rat or squirrel. Most likely rat as there is an abundance of them around the allotments where she was bit. But then the squirrels around there are one step away from being rabid - they have no fear of anything because the kids in the village encourage them to eat from their hands I almost had a heart attack when I first saw it.

I'm gutted you are all the way in oxfordshire I have some doggies here that would have loved to have come to Tessies aid in seeking revenge tomorrow!

Lol. I think Tessie's gonna be infuriated that she can't go ratting with her pals - she normally joins in but she's getting slow and they are sharp 2yr olds, I think her lack of speed is why she got bit. Pity Danny hadn't been there really, he's proving to be a good ratting lurcher as he caught and killed the pair that have been sniffing around my avery for the past week. I'm sure he would have caught whatever it is. I might take him along tomorrow to watch the terriers
