Got up the yard tonight, fetched Toto in, only to discover a graze/gash only a few centimeters to the side of his left eye and it's swollen

We think he's either been kicked, rolled and caught his head on a stone or something, been rubbing his face on his leg after rolling and caught his eye on a nail from his shoe or he's caught himself on the muckbox. So anyway, I brought him in and bathed his cut with woundwash, then put some antiseptic gel on it and wiped around it with a fly repellant wipe. Poor baby was very brave about it, and was spoilt rotten

If it's no better tomorrow then he's going to the vets

Well, he did used to be a bit headshy, but I bought him one of those really soft body brushes for his face and he's alot better now

I just had to be really really careful, in case he suddenly moved but he was very tolerant of it

tbh it looks like little more than a graze, dont panic just keep it clean and allow it to dry up n im sure he will be fine

Yeah, though it looks worse in real life, these pics aren't great

Be really careful what you put on him so close to his eye as it can "weep" backwards/upwards and get into the eye and if its caustic in any way you could have even worse problems. I wouldn't put anything that close to his eye that I wouldn't be happy about actually putting IN his eye! I'd just bathe it in cooled boiled water and let it scab over. Have you checked his cornea for any scratches? Poor wee man - hope he's better soon x

I was very careful when putting it on, it has done the trick though, it's starting to scab over. I cleaned it again and put some more cream on tonight, but probably won't tomorrow because as you said, I'm not really mega happy putting something right near his eye but it's only twice and he's been fine

The creams good stuff, seems to stay put
