Is there anything I can do to help a poorly mare following her annual vacs.
she had a flu and tet and also an EHV vaccine boosters yesterday, one in chest other in neck. She was fine last night pooping and eating but this morning she was so lethargic, had to basically drag her up to the field. She has went out grazed for a bit but now every time I check on her she just seems to be standing dozing.
She had a bit of swelling on her chest this morning but neck seems ok.
Was going to give a danilon, not sure if that will help? Don’t think she’s in pain but just very dull and down.
She’s never been like this before post vaccine although this is the first time she’s ever had all of them at the one time

I have one horse who reacts. Last year, he couldn't bend his head and this year he was very cold/shivering and rather stiff later in the day so I gave him Danilon and then again after 24hrs. He was fine by the following morning. Discussed with the vet who said that some do react as they get older and that she'll give a different vaccine next year (sorry can't remember the name though) and also to give Danilon before the jab.

Mine reacted to flu and tet combined this year. Big swollen neck, super lethargic and dopey, couldn’t reach down to graze, walked very ataxic and couldn’t walk in a straight line. So I raised up all the hay stations so he could keep his neck neutral, and on vets advice gave him bute for a few days. He was back to normal after 72hrs.

Mine reacted to a flu & tet a few years ago to the extent that he had a swollen chest and then coliced, has been ok ever since but I give him Bute before and after. However this year he reacted again to just a flu jab, swelling, raised temperature, not grazing and just really miserable in himself. Vet back and injected anti inflammatory and had a course of antibiotics and bute for longer (made it an expensive flu jab) Vet suggested maybe not giving a flu jab next year but that will mean not taking him anywhere so I’ll have to think about that one. He is 18 this year but we still like to go to a few clinics etc.

Mine reacted when had all three he did have his ehp 2 days later but he was very flat to the point we’re he needed the vet at 10 pm 2 am and 8 am and bloods ran but thankfully was just awful reaction to his vaccine just overloaded his system hope yours is ok today
