poos lying down

Hi.
Anyone ever had an aged horse/pony that poos while lying down in the stable? He has plenty of room as there are other droppings about but will be one or two on his tail. This is not him laying on a done poo, these are unsquashed between his buttocks and on top of his tail hairs. Any ideas? Something to worry about? Thanks

I suggest you wipe bum with baby oil or something to prevent sticking. mucky pup!
Maybe he hurts when getting up, so is more comfy lying in his bed.

My youngster used to poo lying down up until recently (hes 9 now). I thought it very strange but hes fine. I put it down to he was really tired because he would be lying down flat out snoreing!
