So went XC schooling today at MKEC.

Day started off a bit poop as the lorry wouldnt start!!! Batteriesd are a flat as a pancake (dad will be sorting them out at the w,end!!) Dont want to be having a lorry not starting at 4.30am ish before Poplar nxt week!

So put generator on and after 45mins it stared! hooray! But about an hour behind schedule!!

Traffic was fine there and the weather was gorgeous! And no im not being sarcastic it was lovely, really sunny, nether the less very windy!!

Arrived and the lorry park was packed - there was a Lucinda Green clinic so had a panic that as we were late I wouldnt be able to school! But was ok I could still go out.

So off I went on Spider first, I warmed up and the ground was wet and a bit boggy in places but really not as bad as I thought it would be. I started by popping her over the small ditch, some logs and a step up and down and some tyres and she jumped great - then went around and jumped all the Intro and PN fences and a few Novice skinnies - she was great!!! So bold and not bothered by a thing! Pretty good for a rising 5yr old that has jumped about 15 XC fences in her life so far!!!

So on to Mac the Sjer who is turning his hoof to eventing! he warmed up well but was a bit nosy and whilst he did it fine I could tell he couldnt understand why he was cantering around in a big open field!! But he went on to jump just as bold as Spider and again jumped anything and everything I faced him too - including the Novice trekaner and the Novice double of corners!! They jumped all the ditches. The jump ditch jump over by the water, the barrell skinnies, the U shaped brush fences!

yes it is a nice course, id say it could be classed as one of the bigger/more technical intros compared to say MK and Munstead.

There is a ditch to rail, 2 steps up, narrow ish fence into woods, but nothing major!! What section are you in?

Excellent HJ. So glad the weather held out for you.

What clever ponies, you have

Wish could come and support you at Poplar, but have a really busy weekend.

Anyway, good luck. Sounds like your sorted for the XC

Your post really made me laugh - I have a show jumper who im trying to turn into an eventer this year and he has the exact same confusion - cant understand the open space thing ! Bless, im not saying bless when he is bucking, leaping sideways and rearing !
