Thinking about doing the school unaff ODE in March, 2'6-2'9. I've never been there, what's the XC course like? I have a horse who naps XC, and generally uses 'unusual' jump (ie steps, ditches) as an excuse to plant..so are there a lot/any skinnies, ditches, coffins, steps, banks?

Thanks

Erm, I used to do poplar alot a few years ago. From my memory not so many skinnies, a few ditches and a couple of patches of steps. There is a two patches of water, the first has a step into it which will probably be in the 2'6-2'9 class, the second also has ateps out but they may not use that for your class. There was a little log ditch log combo that used to catch a few people out.

Good course though, nice and interesting. You can hire it to school if you think that would help your horse.

Also worth noting, there used to be a field of pigs next to one area of the course. they may have moved but one of mine hated pigs and would go nuts in that area! Actually, the pigs were only there at certain times of the year. Worth mentioning though!

Good luck

Also to add that if your horse napps away from start it may b tricky as he will have to go away from everyone behind him. All quite compact if you get what i mean LOL
Nice course on sandy soil, does have ditches smaller one is quite narrow but tiny, ost probs have the steps in as they have varying heights.
Did it with my school couple of years ago was good fun!! Very competitive though lol esp the private schools lol
Good Luck

Thanks both

Steps out of water not a problem, steps in...may need some work

Pigs are fine- livery yard is in the middle of a pig farm

The_Good_Life_08- he doesn't really nap at the start...it's more that if he gets to an unusual jump which maybe confuses or backs him off a bit, he'll stop dead, start rearing and trying to turn back...he's a complicated horse

As for private schools being competitive...i go to a private school, think i'm entering as an individ rather than with the team (which i do normally) as I have a feeling it might not be a fab performance this time
