From a few months ago but wanted to share.

This is my lovely Harlequin mare who I have owned since she was 3. Shes very quirky but I think shes great. Tried to sell her around this time but no one could ride her, so decided to keep her and she is being put in foal to Luidam over the next few weeks.

She has been out in a friends field for 12 weeks and came to my new yard the other day. Its great to have her back so just wanted to show you what she enjoys (on a good day!)

I have a Harlequin mare. She is very nice to look at, jumps quite literally anything, whether you want her to or not, moves amazingly.

She is an enormous pain in the arse.

We have tried to sell her for 2 years. Nobody can ride her, and those who can don't particularly want to ride her. me included.

She can have a tantrum about a 20m circle, or jump a course of 1.20m without putting a foot wrong, depending on what side she got out of bed.

She is brave as anything I've ever sat on, never looks at anything, but if you try to help/tell her how to jump a fence she will cock her jaw and do it her own, very frightening way. The only way to ride her is to make out like everyting is her idea, sit very still and steer/slow down with your body only. Sometimes I fail at this and then we fail miserably.

Good luck with yours, i'm stuck with mine!

Mine has to do everything her way too!

She is not brave at all though! Has a right stop on her and you have to constantly give her confidence. She is quirky, sharp and can rear. When people tried her she was a saint really, people rode her badly and nervously and she carried on!

Shes very talented and careful. I broke her in myself and only I have ridden her in the 4 years I have owned her. My coached jumped a couple of shows and she lost all confidence (he has ridden for England).

Seems only I can get anything out of her. I decided to breed from her will be the best thing for her now. Shes jumped Blue Chip a few times and qualified regionals ect but sometimes her heart just isnt fully in the jumping.

I love her to bits though so shes staying for a while :D

Yours sounds interesting, mine doesnt scare me at all, I find her naughtiness quite fun!

Do you have any pictures or videos? What is she out of and where did you get her from?

On phone so can't post pictures, she is out of a clover hill mare. Sadly has not managed to inherit anything other than bravery from her Irish heritage.
Yours looks just like mine by the way, he definitely stamps them!
She scares me how brave she is, she hasn't tipped herself up yet, but that is only her athletic ability. If you interfere to a fence she tells you where to go and occasionally takes multiple strides out, especially if you hold for a slightly deep one. Very very scary to sit on.

OMG in that way then she is the total opposite to mine! She is so careful she wont go! Deffo no taking strides out or telling me where to go. I carry her round and constantly have to adjust and plan ahead to keep her confident!

I know a few Harlequins and they do look quite similar. Temperaments vary but all sharp and quirky. Mine is the only one I know that isnt brave though!

I've only had him for 6 days :o
The plan is to get to have a few foxhunters under our belt by this time next year. :)
He's another one with clover hill in his bloodlines.
