I wormed Popple at around 8pm tonight (Drontal - Tablet for dogs weighing 6-10kg) Several minutes ago, she was sick, so 4 1/2 hours (approx) after having the tablet she threw up. She is fine in herself, so I don't think it has upset her hugely, I'm just wondering, should I worm again?

I've read the packet, but I can't see any instructions should this happen

(Someone was sick on the doormat last night, but we are pretty certain this was the cat.) She's had this wormer before and not responded this way. Having had her treated for allergic reactions before, I don't think that this is the case here....

Advice gratefully received

I am no expert on anything veterinary but personally I would worm her again next week - although am happy to be corrected from more knowledgeable people on here!

Do you think the Drontal caused the sickness or has she been at something else?

I would check with either your vet or the wormer manufacturer - is there a helpline on the packet? I would have thought that 4 1/2 half hours after the tablet would be long enough for the tablet have been digested but its best to check.

If she seems perky in herself I would imagine it was just one of those things that just happened to coincide with worming.

Wriggly hugs for Popple!!

drontal is always making dogs throw up. you can try again, but suspect the same thing might happen again. i'd choose a different brand and do it in a few days time. she should have absorbed most of it within 4.5hrs but you never know and it wont hurt to do it again.

Pas is always sick after worming

The vet said to worm him again two weeks later if the tablets don't appear in the vomit

My Yorkie can't tolerate Drontal, he has to have Milbemax. I would try that one next time, it's better for small breeds.

Thanks guys

She has been fine today

(in fact, she's had a FAB day: trip to the park first thing, playing with the farrier (who is a great friend of hers

), running alongside Be and I out riding round the fields for lots of adventures, followed by a trip to the park & playground with my friends little daughter, who Pops is best of friends with

)

I shall give her a little recovery time, and then redo her with another brand
