Poppy has Colic and not responding to treatment :(

Pleased to hear she is looking a little brighter ive been thinking about you and her this afternoon.... i hope she continues to recover, good luck with seeing her tommorrow.

We have progress. Because she has finally started eating small amounts and drinking she has now poo'd and wee'd so we hope she is on the road to recovery. Still uncomfortable but brighter and even managed a little walk and some in hand grazing.

They were worried it was a slow strangulation of the gut or a polyp or cyst blocking her guts but fingers crossed if she continues to pick up then it was just a very nasty virus.

Bless he little socks she has been so brave. She was in such pain her heart rate and breathing were through the roof but she is calmer now and settled. She still isn't back to normal but she is picking up and for now that is all we can wish for.

Thanks again guys you have been so great. x x x

Only just seen this thread so heart was in my mouth as went through the pages but so glad to hear she's improving. Will keep everything crossed for her continued recovery :) And a big hug to you and your Mum.

Hello guys,
Yes more good news.

Slow but steady progress. Still not overly keen on eating or drinking but she is getting there. Mum says it's about an hour after she has eaten anything she gets fidgety and shows signs of discomfort.

They tubed her again this morning to get more fluids in because her droppings were hard but vet had a feel again and said the stuff now coming through is softer. She is still on painkillers and anti biotics as a precaution as they still can't fathom what sparked this all off.

I have asked Mum to get her a himilayan rock salt lick as she doesn't have a salt lick and to get her some pink powder but I just hope she will.

She is going out for walks in hand for a little grass and is getting more enthusiastic each time and her walking is improving. She still is very stiff and has one back legs that isn't moving properly but she may have jarred something with all the getting up and down with the colic.

Fingers crossed we ar heading in the right direction now for which I am very grateful.

Hope that her recovery continues and you have a happy ending to this episode.

When you do, think about cutting all cereals out of her feed, and including some linseed meal instead, that will provide mucilage and sooth the digestive tract.
