Hi everyone,

Here is the latest update on Pops. (My last update was Saturday evening)

Yes, she is doing much better. She was allowed to come home on Saturday, but we had to keep her really, really quiet.

She had another blood test yesterday. Her bloods are much better! Her platelets were 7 this time last week, and now they are 217 and the vet is really pleased with her. Her red blood count is stabilizing as well.

We have to keep her calm, but not as quiet as over the weekend (she was on defindate bed rest) and she is definately stronger with each day. She was brighter yesterday, and is a bit brighter again today. The difficulty is in keeping her calm when she is so bright. Dizzy thing.

She has about 20 tablets to take each day. Her temperature is slightly raised because of the steroids and she is puffing sometimes. Puffing is normal when they are on steroids the vet says. And she will drink more.

We have an appt a week Weds just to check her blood and then see if we can gradually reduce her steroids and other meds.

I cannot believe how much she has improved since the blood transfusion. On Thursday lunchtime she was minutes from death. Her blood count was so low the vet was worried that her organs would fail, she could have had a stroke, heart stopped etc according to the vet. They got the new blood into her in the nick of time.

Thank you so much for all your help. It meant the world to me when I was really scared last week.

This is such good news. I hope everything continues to improve for you both

Thanks for the update. I know how hard it is to keep a dog quiet once they start to feel better! Hope she continues to make steady progress and you will soon be able to put it all behind you.

So pleased she is continuing to improve. When I came on HHO this morning could only see the first part of title - Poppy update not so ..., my heart sank , thought it was going to say not so good! Thanks so much for the updates, figners crossed she is soon back to her normal self.

So pleased things are going the right way and for letting us know. I had been wondering.

That's just great, I was waiting for an update and just so glad it's a good one. Best of luck keeping her quiet though!

Thank you everyone!

Spangles are not good at being quiet!
