Bay mare, good jumper. Jumps 5ft metal gates from standstill for fun, wearing multiple rugs. Unrugged would probably clear 6 foot. Unrugged and with a run-up that isn't solid ice with 3 inches of snow on top, could probably manage higher.
Rears in stable over dividing (8 ft) wall because this is (apparently) a more amusing way to attract owners attention than the more conventional method of whinnying sweetly over door.
Terribly untidy in stable. Anything left within 10 feet of door will be pulled into stable/upended/strewn about yard. If you think something is safely out of reach you are probably wrong, and Porridge will gladly prove this to you - usually on the night that YO is about to witness devastation.
Brilliant at emptying full wheelbarrows, with training could possibly be encouraged to empty them somewhere useful.
Has no fear of electric fencing, views it as a challenge. Yet to be beaten by any configuration of fencing.
Ha Ha - Goose is no longer allowed out at night in the summer. He gets bored and goes to find friends - which means walking through really strong electric fencing - he has worked out that its worth a few minutes pain to cause havoc! He is also not allowed to have anything hanging in or near his stable or it gets removed. I did try to let his wrap/sports boots dry off by fastening them (all 4 velcros) onto the grid outside his stable.
Took him all night but he undid ALL of them by the next morning.
Can I add a naughty haffie to the list please?
He's started jumping in between the electric fences (we have a 3ft gap between paddocks) and that's fine as he's always made his own decisions about which field he's in. But now he's pulling up the fence poles with his teeth when he wants to get out!!
Not a happy bunny - I spent 2 hours, in the dark refencing 10 acres tonight......
Loved your comment Mike - but I think Porridge has SO much character and is obviously has great potential and could be a serious competition horse....maybe in line for the World Class Equine Pathway.......? Afterall, you need a horse with a bit of attitude - dontcha???!!
Sorry but porridge is only an enthusiastic amateur.Lance aka asbo pony was 17.3hh of pure attitude.(except when ridden.) I had him tied up outside his stable and put his (heavy) saddle on a saddle bar on the wall . I saw his bum swing towards me and went to step away,my sholder was 6" away from the saddle when the "Marradonna Hoof of god" shot past my ear and lifted the saddle clean as you like into orbit. It nearly decapitated the horses in the next two stables.I picked up a stick to remonstrate with him but he just stood his ground without flinching. As if to say,"there is nothing you can do to me that will make me regret that for one second
.And did you see those suckers in the next stables duck
