Does anyone know of any good portable door alarms? I need to get one for my tackroom as it has been broken in to once. Also considering getting some for the stable doors. I don't want one with a sensor, as my friend use to have one and it went off if the horse put its head over the door, just one that goes of when the door is opened, also needs to be easy to turn off during the day. Must be reasonable prices as I don't have a lot to spend. Thanks

You can buy door wedges with an alarm if the stable door is close enough to the floor. I think you'll find them under travel security.

Have found the padlocks with the alarms I am going to get one of them for the tack room. The stable doors sit on top of one layer of bricks (about 4/5 inches off the floor), so not sure the wedge would work. Thanks for replys any over ideas appreciated :)

No you don't, they usually have a pin which is attached to a cord. Stick the alarm on the wall and hook the cord onto the door. If the door is opened -BINGO- they make a hellish clatter.

We use them on our buildings and as a trip alarm by our oil tank. Very useful things.

Ok thanks will try that I think. can you put them over the kick bolt? as my horse eats everything so would probably set the alarm off himself if it has to go on the tope bolt.

Don't know whether a motorbike disc lock would be any good? There not particularly cheap but they look like a large padlock and are normally luminous yellow and have a movement sensor inside. The alarm on them is very loud!
