Would a port stop a horse locking onto a bit?

I have a myler combination bit and he is fine with and the action is great, he just tends to lock onto it a bit as we approach fences, he has a comfort snaffle moythpiece at the mo and wondered about getting a ported mouthpiece

My horse hated the ported myler but goes really well in the triple barrel mouthpiece- this is designed to stop the horse taking a hold so could be worth a try.

Ok thank you.

It is just at the last few strides he takes a hold, locks on to the fence and goes!!

Not good if one follows another one as he will just land and go. He had already been ridden in a slightly ported Myler before and gone well, so have ordered that, I have a 14day trial on it. Do you have any other tips?
