Posessive, jealous horse, over its owner? Really?

Oh yes, my mare that I've had for 8 years is extremely possessive of me! Bless her.
The yard we are on has bars between stables so the horses can 'chat' and the funniest thing she does is try and stick her nose through while glaring at me and the horse I'm grooming/tacking up! (We have 4 altogether now so she does't know who to 'punish' for letting me fuss them!)

I'm not allowed to talk to other horses in view of mine, nor can I be in his sight but not talking to or petting him :rolleyes3: If other horses approach me in the field, he herds me away from them (shame he wasn't in the field when cow features stamped on me!). If there is a crowd of horses at the gate, he will blast through them to get to me. Bless!!

Baby was never nasty but would quietly and calmly position her self to say excuse my mum. was always so sweet but forceful enough. Only time she shared me was week before she went. me sat on stile eating sarnies she allowed TG to share with us :) picnic in field :)

Dogs get funny about who is patted first, and I had a pet goat thst would not allow me to give any attention to any one else but her first and really did not want me to spend any time with any one else. Some of the horss always are in your face and getting attention, ensuring others have to wait. Animals are more complicated than they are given credit for.

Nugz will act the big I am to a neighbouring horse if I am in the field or stable, but many a time I have spied on him and he's busy canoodling with the enemy when he thinks I'm not watching :D

Oh, and if I see another horse before him, he does this little whine/whicker thing regularly until I see him...almost like he's doing a small cough for attention :D

My lad is jealous of my OH as well as other horses, we were hacking together holding hands (soppy I know) and my OH pointed out my lads ears were flat back and pulling faces and actually said "he's jealous", a few days later I was hacking with my daughter riding my OH's horse and decided to test my lad, we held hands for ages, with no reaction from my lad. Yes they get jealous

This thread got big while I was out!

Gypsum was one of two when I bought her, but I got the other a share for about a year before I sold her. I used to ride for other people at my various barns over the years and she never seemed to bother and then I bought a youngster to start and sell on, and she never seemed bothered by that, either. But it has been seven years since she has been one out of two. I ride other horses now, but usually not ones on my yard. Maybe she is getting more crabbit with age. Aren't we all.

My Appy is like that :) I'll never forget the time a horse tried to charge at me in the field and I got knocked over and he stood over me and protected me. :) He gets really jealous if he sees me with another horse! :p

Yes

i was dating someone when i was 17, my old tb pinned this poor guy up against the stable door and literally wanted to murder him...horse was right about him ;-) but he was pissey if i dared stroke another horse or bring someone else to the yard with me and talk to them

very odd....he was a tb/ex-racer though and never seemingly had attention until i got him :)
