Whilst on a short break in Cornwall this weekend I saw a skeletal pony barely visible over a stone wall. We passed it again the following day and OH slowed down so I could get a proper look and it had the most prominent spine I have ever seen we are talking a score of 1 or 0.5 how is this poor thing still standing condition.

So I phoned the RSPCA helpline on Sunday and told them best I could the location and description of the pony and today they called me and the officer said he went out sunday and located the pony and managed to contact the owner yesterday and they are working with the owner to improve the ponies condition. The RSPCA officer was really thankful that I phoned and reported it and is positive that the pony is now on his radar and will be helped or PTS as appropriate depending on how is reacts to help and for it's age and health.

I am so relieved that I do not have this ponies continued suffering on my conscience and that one way or another this pony has and will continue to be helped.

After so many anti threads over recent years I wanted to post in the RSPCA's defence.

Well done, like you I would not have been able to to do nothing.

Some years ago I was concerned when I saw a number of horses on grazing with a lot of ragwort. I phoned RSPCA and reported, and within a short period of time horses were taken off the field and it was treated.

Good for you, its great that you did something to help. Have to say, the RSPCA came out to a field of cobs with terrible feet. The officer was lovely and rang me back with progress reports until the farrier had been out and sorted out a few other issues.

It was a huge relief to hear the owner was willing to work with them and together they are trying a few options before making a decision.

Pony is elderly and semi feral and the owner is an elderly gent but I felt pony needed help and the RSPCA are handling the case sensitively and tactfully so hopefully things will resolve for the best possible outcome either way.

I was reported to the RSPCA by a neighbour regarding our dog which the neighbour claimed to have heard being beaten and howling in pain for 3 months. The RSPCA came out within 12 hours and met my very excitable and noisy rescue dog which we had had for just 4 weeks. Yes I was disappointed that my neighbour felt that they couldn't speak to me first, but glad that the report was checked out. I also have a friend who is an RSPCA inspector and know how hard she works.
